Anyone Flock-ing?

Ok...couldn't resist...But seriously...Has anyone tried this new web browser Flock? Combines a Mozilla based browser, with all your fav social networks... Started by some of the Mozilla Foundation that branched off.

Honestly...I really don't need anything else to contribute to my inefficient time consumption at work...but it might be worthwhile to look into for home use...

I've been using Flock for a few months now. I, of course, decided to try it out for all of the social network capabilities, but soon found that I didn't actually use these features very often. I have continued to use Flock because of the ease of adding a blog entry from within the browser. I find myself navigating through pages or tutorials on the web and Flock allows me to almost instantly add a blog entry from that page. All I have to do is right-click (I'm on Windows), choose 'Blog This', and a WYSIWYG editor pops up. I just write the blog, submit it and it is instantly published on one of the blogs that I maintain.

I also like the MyWorld home page. I can subscribe to and read blogs directly from this page. I find it's a bit easier to follow than using Outlook as my feed reader. I don't have to go to a new site (Google Reader, etc.) to view the new blog entries. I just have to open a browser window and they're shown right there. I can also see my favorite sites directly from this page. It's a very handy portal for my use.

I'm very happy with the rendering engine. I can install the same extensions that I can install on my Firefox browser, (most notably the developer based extensions), so I'm not losing any of the functionality I would get there.

It does seem to be a bit more unstable than Firefox. I've noticed that the browser closes unexpectedly more frequently than I remember Firefox doing the same thing. However, it isn't too often and I don't feel it hinders the work flow.

I happen to like Flock, probably just because I've grown used to it, but I seem to work well within it. And of course, I'm in a browser all day long, so seems to be very useful.

The blogging feature sounds very cool. I also like the fact that you can install the same extensions. May have to give it a shot after all. I will try to re-post at a later date with an update on likes/dislikes.

I have it installed, I just have trouble leaving FF and all its great plugins, mainly the web devloper plugin. But yeah, when you for that market Flock rocks, I was I were a Flockstar

I've yet to find a FF plugin that was incompatible with Flock. I have all of my plugins that were installed on FF working with Flock - even the web developer plugin.

I have been rocking the Flock for about a year, maybe more. It was promo'd by photobucket.com as a way to bulk upload photos (the web interface capped out at 20 or so, whereas with flock i could drag and drop entire folders). It's also got a very cool photo toolbar that shows a film strip of all my photobucket photos and allows me to grab tags with the src filled in for me, or just drag a photo straight into a facebook or blog post.

The Facebook sidebar is neat, but not overly useful unless you're more addicted than I am (which is hard to imagine since I spend all day working on Facebook applications and marketing strategies). FF has a similar sidebar, that is maybe a version or two behind, but offers most of the same gimmicks.

The ease of blogging, and the media/photo features by far are the main perks to flock.

The only complaint I have is that the newest version of Flock has not been compliant with the javascripts on many of the web-based forms I am used to using. Most likely I just need to update my javas? Not sure, but it's a pain in the butt to get a popup about every little script that comes my way

I found Flock a month or so ago. I use Opera for most of my browsing, FF for most of my work, IE for testing, and now open Flock when I want to do anything with social networks. Delineating browser use by purpose helps keep me from having more than 30 tabs open in any one particular browser...
