When I was up at HighEdWebDev in 06, they had mentioned working on starting up a professional society kind of deal for university web developers. I didn't go to HighEdWebDev this year, and I'm wondering if anyone knows any news on that?
We are alive and kicking, we're incorporated, we've expanded the board, and we're starting to work on the membership definitions now. What would you (and everybody else) want in a professional association?
Some suggestions and definitions of what some of our roles might/should be (or even currently are) and where our salaries (in general, not in particular) sit. Any help for us to make the case that our salary isn't in line with our colleagues would be amazing. Title/job description guidelines would also be handy.
A List Apart put out a study I found very helpful. One of its findings was that when looking at titles/salaries, universities seem to be way behind the game.
Also, a way to get in touch with one another. I find the roster of who attended HighEdWeb invaluable, even if I rarely go to it to find someone.
There are other things, but I've got to run to a meeting at the moment.
