University Web Developers

Below is an e-mail from Lance Merker, the President/CEO of OmniUpdate with a proposal for this site. Given this is a community site, it's only appropriate that the members decide on this proposal. Please provide your feedback by this Friday (May 16).

We at OmniUpdate would like to give a free coffee mug with the University Web Developers emblem to all 700+ subscribers of the ning group. The proposition in simple. We would like to replace the google ads on the right side of the page with the attached banner. The banner (and the free mug offer) would remain for one year. We'll pay all the costs to remove the google ads, and pay for the mugs and shipping to members who request one during the year.

That's it. We won't replace the banner with any advertising nor put our advertising on the mugs!

Members of the group get a symbol of their association with the social network -- hopefully building some camaraderie and group spirit -- and we get brand recognition from the sponsorship.

Regards,

Lance

Sounds good to me! I can always use another mug!
I don't have a problem with this either - Has a decision been made yet?
We are moving forward with this proposal. You'll notice the Google Ads are gone. Expect to see the offer for mugs shortly.
Sounds inviting...
Mugs are good, if only they came supplied with coffee... :)
Nice. Hey Mark, when will be able to get our sweet mugs?
I spoke with Lance Merker at eduWeb last week. The mugs are in and he hoped to have everything in place this week so it should only be a couple of days.

I'll send e-mail out to all members when everything is set to go.
I thought about the mugs last week when I saw Lance present, but didn't think it was the right time to ask him about it. Glad to hear they're almost ready! I can use it at next year's conference.
There were banner ads on this site? Who knew! But I love coffee! Man I'm slow!
The mugs are now available. To receive your mug, click on the banner ad in the right margin of the site and complete the form. Please let me know if you have any difficulties with this process. I encountered some problems when adding the banner, but it seems to be working fine now. And thanks to Lance Merker and OmniUpdate for this offer.
Not entirely unexpected this, but when I tried to put in my completely legitimate ac.uk address the form spat it back at me. Presumably the .ca people will find the same, though we did raise this issue on 21/5 and Terry Calhoun wrote: "Won't be a problem. Just something we either hadn't thought completely through yet, or was thought through and I had forgotten. I am quite embarassed. Please forgive me.

We'll be sure to put this and the other unanticipated such items into the online form. I do know that Omni Update is prepared for international shipping of the mug."
