What are your early impressions?

I dislike the history bar, it's way more information than I want/need in my history. I'm fearful that Firefox is creeping ever closer to the IE7 design with the "Back / Forward" changes that they've made. I will remain loyal to Firefox, but I beg you "stay away from the dark side" (IE)!!!
Totally agree w/ the history... I don't like it at all for when I try to type in a URL either. Maybe that's good for someone who doesn't know, but simply annoying. Besides I thought technical people used FF so what's the need.

The speed is definitely noticable and otherwise it's a nice upgrade. I also like the one click bookmarking.
Does anyone know if there is a way around this?
Haven't done it yet, but I've read about it...
Power User's Guide to Firefox 3

oldbar extension
Just did it, and it works great. Plus you still have the one-click bookmarking.
Thanks Kyle - YOU ROCK!
Yeah I just installed it too... me likey!
Thanks for sharing this one. The 'Awesome Bar' was driving me crazy, and made no sense for the main demographic that use Firefox. I didn't see the need, and this add-on is just great!
I am pretty impressed with it's speed increases, and most the extensions I use have already been updated to work with. Actually around beta 3 they were.

Firefox did really screw up with silverlight compatibility and believe it or not Microsoft has been the quick one to issue a patch. However silverlight does not have that much market saturation so it's mostly a none issue at this point.
I love the awesome bar. I had been using an extension in FF2 for a while that gave me similar functionality. Matching any part of a URL is something my phone browser has been doing for years, and when I didn't have the functionality on FF it was very annoying.
I'm actually afraid to download it. I heard that there will be no support for Google Browser sync which is a make or break for me with multiple computers.
If you're using google browser sync primarily for bookmark sync, you could use the delicious extension instead.
Once I got used to the new functionality, I've grown to like the new URL bar changes.

The one catch is that in the first day of using it, every single time I tried to close FF, it crashed. Which isn't a bad time to crash, really, but it was still bothersome.
