I just read this interest article at ReadWriteWeb:

Chrome Market Share: WebTrends Says 2%; Over 7% at ReadWriteWeb

I'm seeing about a 2% share for Chrome at the sites that I support. How much is Chrome being used at your sites? Are there things we should be thinking about if Chrome becomes a major player in the browser market?

After two years - an update :-)

Chrome wins on the portal because of the higher percentage of students.
Chrome is on the very bottom of our list at 0.36% The frontend of Unitec's site seems fine on Chrome, but we can't get it to work with our CMS backend.

Like the others, Chrome is close to the bottom of the list for us at 0.68%.
We (University of Missouri) are seeing 0.30% for Chrome, but it's beating Opera's 0.12% share.

I agree with Matthew Levy in that I think Chrome's niche is going to be online application usage. For me, it just consumes waaaaay too many resources. Each time I have tested it, it consumes 4X the amount of memory than either Firefox, or IE.
It's funny, though. One test that seems to be missing from that batch is the continued memory usage (or memory release). I agree that it's important to note how much memory is used while you are actively using the browser.

However, it's even more important to see how well browsers release the memory when you stop using a tab or two, or even when you stop using the browser altogether for a while.

I have no idea how that test would turn out, but I've heard a lot of bad things over the years about Firefox, memory leaks, and it not freeing up memory properly once you've closed a tab or window. Chrome's promotional materials seem to target those specific problems, claiming that that is not an issue when using Chrome. Who knows whether that's true or not, though. I'd be interested to see those results.
