Not to try and steal David's thunder for first sending out the link through email, but I thought I would start a thread here for folks to post tests. We tend to be a helpful bunch of folks so I figured it would be a great way to get some good feedback. Based on the article at http://www.uie.com/articles/five_second_test/

Here is mine: http://fivesecondtest.com/test/b5ac552

Yes! Cass, this is a great demonstration of how you might get more useful results. The original you put up was trying to cover so much (as home pages do, since they serve as gateways) that you might get little feedback other than if your branding was effective.

I'd be very interested to see a comparison in the feedback you receive and whether you found one more useful than the other.

Not a single person did what the article said -

"As we often do in other types of usability tests, we start by giving users a focused task. For the Donation page, we gave users a simple task:

"You're ready to donate to the Red Cross organization. But you're unsure of what kind of donation to make. What are your donation options?"

Next, before we show the user our page, we tell them we'll only display it for 5 seconds. We ask them to try to remember everything they see in this short period. "

That's why they're getting "bad" results. Most of the posts here didn't put their school name, the page of the site, and the visitor goal before the link so everyone is going into the test blind. That's fine if all of your traffic blindly arrives at your website but I highly doubt that's the case.
