Is anyone else out there using Facebook Pages for their institution? I set one up for Wofford the day it was announced back in October I think. http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=18923216864
I don't even know how to explain it. Starting the beginning of this year I had a student worker go and invite all her friends to join and it went viral or something! We went for about 40 people who had stumbled upon it through the new year to 260 fans today and a steady growth every day! I'm not really sure exactly how we are going to use this yet, but I'm curious if anyone else is doing this or something similar and how they are using it.

THANK YOU!! It worked & it's great!!
I've installed it and it works great. Thank you.
Hi everyone,

We posted a page a few weeks ago, but it hasn't exactly gone "viral." 36 fans and counting...

Kyle, I like your idea of putting the "College Major Quiz" on your page. I've been wracking my brain trying to think of something interesting that might keep people coming back.
Thanks Stephen, I spent some time looking through apps and saw the College Major Quiz and thought that's perfect!

Diddo on the Simple RSS, that's definitely the app to install for adding RSS feeds. I even installed it on my personal page as the best solution for bringing in my Blog RSS feed.
Hello,

I created a UT facebook page this week. When I posted our news items to the posted items section I had to enter a name, not the university name. Now it looks like UT's page is for Chris Goodwin, not the University. So if I ask someone to become a friend, it looks I am asking them to be my friend, not a friend of UT. Anyone else having this problem?

We started a Facebook Page for SMU in December and have been steadily adding content. We haven't really promoted it yet but so far we have 76 "fans".

I just finished a survey of how we use Facebook and posted it to my blog
http://doteduguru.com/id35-social-survey-facebook.html
I'd be interested in any feedback.

Also I just started a new thread about MySpace in the Social Networking group exploring similar things that we are discussing here for that network. If you have any expertise or experience with MySpace please share.

Thanks.
I have a page for the University and one for the Butler Bloggers. I also created an application that pulled in the latest men's basketball news feeds, based off of one from Allegheny, and it peaked around 600 users.

More here and here.
Another few apps that might be helpful are the photo and video apps. I used Simple RSS to pull in my flickr images. One thing to note not all Facebook apps can be used on Fan pages. When you search for them they break them down into "Apps for profile" and "Apps for pages"
Anyone know how to work out who is the admin of a Facebook page? We have one for our University however I did not create it, so have no control over it. And I want to find out who did create it to so they can assign me with admin rights as well.
Just have to send them a message and hope they respond!

Here's a recent post on Facebook Pages vs. Groups:

Office Reservation software

I've been tasked with finding a software tool that helps manage the onboarding and exit process of new and departing faculty. Ultimately i would like this software to management faculty office interms of when resources can be removed from a particular office and when a new faculty member can be moved in with the necessary resources. This tool should have notifications and alerts so there are no conflicts with someone being removed from a office and someone being placed in a office. Does anyone…See More
