Permalink Reply by Jay Massey on August 2, 2011 at 10:32pm Hello,
Our campus is in the final stages of roll out of the CampusEAI, myCampus portal. My question is for any of you who have developed or are developing your web site with the WCMS.
My job is the public web presence. I am in the early planning stage for architecting, design, migration and launch. We are a 12,000 student institution with a 10,000+ page static website currently managed with DreamWeaver. I an looking for others who may be able to help by sharing any WCMS planning / process documentation. If we can leverage your experience I will not have to recreate our process from scratch.
Thanks in advance. Please feel free to friend me here if you would like to discuss offline or tweet @JayMassey
Thanks,
Jay
Permalink Reply by Paul Branham on August 3, 2011 at 10:24am Use lots of communities! Their WCMS starts to falter when your community approaches 50 or so pages in a community. (Assuming Staging and workflow are turned on.)
Basically, a community will temporarily crash during publish when ever you update a single page. For small communities it may only be a second or two, but a 500 page community will cause a 10-15 minute outage.

What version are you using (6 or 7) and are you using a load-balanced pair of servers?
