We recently launched a new feature that extends Facebook’s “Like” button (we renamed ours “Recommend”) on Happenings, UCLA’s events calendar. This feature, called “Most Recommended,” only lists events that have been recommended by our users. It’s a truly crowd sourced list, showing the most popular events happening around UCLA.
As many of you already know, the web continues to evolve and integrate more closely with social. We’ll see even more extremely personalized and targeted recommendations for everything from social connections, product recommendations, news and information. We're just starting to scratch the surface and are excited with the possibilities that lie ahead. The "Like" button itself has been a huge source of engagement for our users and is the 5th largest referral of traffic to our site.
Would be interested in hearing more about what is behind your Happenings solution and if it is integrated with any online booking systems or vendor calendar solutions.
We have a custom application that was developed called Events Online (http://www.eol.ucla.edu).
