Has anybody attempted to make WebAdvisor mobile friendly? I can't imagine trying to use WebAdvisor with anything less than a small tablet, much less a smartphone. I see a few customizations in headers and such but nothing major to layouts.

I know Datatel/Ellucian has MOX (Mobile Online Access) but that's for the Portal (SharePoint), not WebAdvisor specifically.
The part that would be a bit tricky is the styling of the Envision forms from Colleague in WebAdvisor (the interactive online forms), identifying all of those attributes and then delivering a usable interface for a mobile device.
I think that's definitely a project worth pursuing, and I would be willing to participate in getting that done.

You are exactly correct, if an institution does not have the MOX "app" enabled with the "portal" portion of the package, class search, registration, and payment is not possible.
I'd love to get this going, Sent you a PM.
Thanks.
