Digital Asset Management solution

What are people liking for a DAM solution these days? We're looking for something we can let loose for our entire internal staff and faculty population for use on their webpages and in print publication design requests etc.

Needs are:

web-based/ hosted

multiple permission levels

multiple file formats - video, images, vector

light boxes

good support and implementation help

Nice to haves are:

face tagging

social sharing integration

an editing module for some cropping etc.

works with other printing workflow solutions (xerox)

Any recommendations of good services/products to explore- and conversely, any to steer clear of in our search?

Hi All, Just to close the loop a bit. We went with WebDAM and will post our experiences as we on-board with them in the coming weeks and start to use the solution campus-wide. Thanks again for all the info!

We're in the process of implementing WebDAM as well to replace our previous Gallery2 installation which was no longer cutting it campus wide. Has all of your needs/must-haves but not sure about the nice-to-haves. Good luck with your search and implementation!

We are using ResourceSpace as well, running in a LAMP environment, with dedicated local storage for fast response time when working with larger files, such as video.  We are using BackBlaze cloud storage for offsite backup solution since they provide unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited file size transfer for a fairly small fee per month.

Since ResourceSpace is open source you have to do a little reading and digging to configure the way you'd like but it's fairly simple to use and we've had no issues after using it for about 6 months now.  The Google Groups site mentioned earlier is what I followed as well.
