Has anyone merged their Facebook Page with their Place page yet?

I'm interested in what design controls you have. Are you able to move the map to a different area?

Can anyone point out a Place page that has merged, doesn't have to be higher ed.

Oh no... I really hope that's not true. These are all things that Facebook should tell you up front!
Yes I claimed our Places page and then was prompted to "merge" the places page with our current fan page. I trusted Facebook and clicked "yes" and what a big mistake that was - we lost our custom tabs and now have a huge map hogging the top portion of our page. Adding posts and links has been very buggy as well. From what I've read, there is no "undo" and Facebook is currently not providing any way to "un-merge". I'd say go ahead and claim your page but be careful and do NOT merge it with your current page. Here's how it looks on our Central Oregon Community College page http://on.fb.me/fGrdUz
I was afraid of this. It's why I was hesitant to merge our page. Thanks Scott.

Let us know if you are given design control in the future.
See, this is EXACTLY why I'm never doing anything without checking this board first from now on. I just made the same mistake; I was all excited to merge when given the opportunity and assumed - should have remembered about assuming! - that merging would put all of my hard work into my place page, not override my page settings. Seems like a really bad business plan on the part of FB - there have got to be more page users than place users. Scott, if you figure anything out let me know and I'll be happy to share as well.
I noticed today that Facebook pages and place merge FAQs were updated with an unmerge option. They also have an FAQ that says you lose your selection of landing page, however it does say that custom tabs are supposed to stay. Looks like they have made some improvements based on user feedback.

My Page and Place finally merged yesterday (www.facebook.com/HamiltonCollege). Not sure if I will keep them together or not. I did NOT lose my custom tabs - they got moved over to the left-hand side.

You DO lose the ability to set the landing tab.

Here are a couple of screenshots - what a fan sees vs. what a non-fan sees:
