Facebook "University" page
Anyone know how to change our "Organization" page into a "University" page? Can't figure it out via Facebook help.
We're wanting to show up when folks type in our school name under their education ... We're not currently an option.
Any help appreciated.

Hey folks,
It appears "university" pages are a bit of a canard. The page I noticed, University of Nevada, Las Vegas University, appears to be something created by Facebook with some cooperation with Wikipedia. It's a Facebook page for the university, but the university had nothing to do with its creation.
Organization will just have to do for now.

That's correct - anything included on employment, education, interests, etc on a Facebook profile links to the facebook-created page for that site. Students still have to "like" a campus page to connect to the official presence of the university on facebook.

You used to be able to claim a Community Page (i.e. the one with Wikipedia info) and fold the fans of the Community Page into your official Facebook Page, but it looks like they've eliminated that capability.

Click on "Edit Page" in the upper right corner of your page. From there, click on "Basic Information" on the left side. On that page, use the pull-down menu on the right and set it to "University."

Hi, thanks to Jesse and to the others who replied on this discussion (and to Svend for the original thread!) Facebook doesn't make finding out this stuff easy does it? We are in the process of creating an official University page for our Institute, which is a combination of existing groups and a page. The info on this and several other threads has been very useful.
I think I'm going to like this website... :)
