Hi all,

I need feedback on your institution's experience with the following CMS vendors:

* Day
* Ektron
* Sitecore
* Hannon Hill
* Fatwire

And/or your experience with these open source CMS products:

* Drupal
* TYPO3

Also do you have any experience with a support contract for Drupal or TYPO3, such
as from Acquia.com or Acqal.com?

And last:

Do you have any general tips on particularly outstanding or awful enterprise-level content management products?

Thank you for your time!

Rebecca

When you went to CS, did you have a large data migration as well?

Are you happy with how it handles media files, your news service ... and how have your content managers (non techies) responded to the system? Do you have good "buy in" campus wide?
Who is supporting your open source products?
In our case, we're supporting it ourselves - we understand the product extremely well. We could contract with firms like Acquia for support but haven't felt the need.
Actually, it's of any help I'll be doing a vendor independent talk about this at Eduweb in Chicago on the Tuesday (21st) called: Running an Efficient HE Web Content Management Evaluation Process

Curious as to why there is no mention of Joomla on your list of open source CMS, is this something you have not considered?

I find that it is a well developed and community supported product that can be rapidly developed and deployed in a University setting. I currently manage 4 websites running Joomla (1.0.x and 1.5.x) as secondary duties, webmaster is not my job title, and find that I can manage all of them well.

I would be glad to elaborate on any of the setups or what I use on each if needed.
Thank you for your offer.

We are looking at an enterprise-wide implementation which has challenges for some of the open source platforms we reviewed. Our team narrowed to drupal, but I will pass along your kind offer to share info on your Joomla experiences.
