University Web Developers

The Office of College Relations at Connecticut College, a highly selective private liberal arts college, located in the historic seaport of New London, seeks a highly skilled and experienced front end web developer to support and extend the existing functionality of the College's web sites, mobile sites/apps and social media properties. The developer also manages the technical aspects of a robust web and social media analytics program that provides key intelligence for institutional decision-making, and is a key support for end users of the College's web content management system (CMS).

S/he will be responsible for: translating web designs into HTML/CSS and building related templates in our CMS system; developing functionality to integrate social and digital media into the CMS/College website; utilizing interactive front-end web applications and other interactive functionality as needed; building the College's mobile website; collaborating on the creation of mobile apps for iOS and Android devices; building HTML broadcast email and email templates; creating reports and analysis to improve digital communications in pursuit of institutional goals; and managing technical aspects of multivariate testing and the College's search engine optimization efforts. The developer will also act as an expert resource for digital content producers and end users of the College's web content management system and serve as the College Relations functional lead for the Banner administrative data system, and for implementation and management of all web-connected enterprise systems.

Requirements: bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of web development experience and a strong portfolio of work; extensive experience with HTML and CSS; working knowledge of Javascript, JQuery/AJAX; experience building websites within a web content management system (Terminalfour Site Manager preferred); working knowledge of mobile and responsive web design; experience with third party APIs (e.g. Google APIs, Facebook API); strong written and verbal communication skills, can effectively explain issues and solutions; ability to work independently as well as collaboratively; high integrity needed to handle confidential information; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; and able to work under pressure, plan and accomplish goals.

Preferred Qualifications: understanding of relational database design; experience with additional development platforms/scripting languages; prior experience/familiarity with the Banner administrative data system; prior experience/familiarity with Terminalfour Site Manager; and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Final Cut Pro.
