Is there a way to link up two different URLs that both go to the same page through Google Analytics to provide a full view of stats?

We use Ingeniux as our CMS, and enabled the structured URLs for all pages, rather than the standard xIDs. Depending on how the pages are linked within the CMS, they sometimes go to the xID named page, and other times use the structured URL. This causes the GA stats to be split between the structured URL and the xID... even though it's the same page. Anyone know of a way to sync the two URLs within GA so that they list as one page, rather than having to add the separate lines together when pulling reports?

Hi Shauna,

If you look at the code GA puts in your pages, you'll see a line of javascript like this:

pageTracker._trackPageview();

This is where it's actually sending the page URL to Google for tracking. It's possible to put whatever you want as an argument into that code, like this:

pageTracker._trackPageview("/whateverpageiwant.html");

You could write some javascript that would find the current URL, then edit one version of it (with some string manipulation) to look like the other before it sends to GA. Do you have examples of what those two URLs might look like?

Here's a Google search for the kind of thing I'm talking about:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=analytics+_trackpageview+c...
Thanks so much, Stephen - the pageTracker argument is a tack we hadn't thought of... I'll try that out on some key pages and see how it works

Examples of the URL pairings are:

Home Page: http://www.emmanuel.edu/ and http://www.emmanuel.edu/x30.xml
Tuition Page: http://www.emmanuel.edu/Tuition_and_Aid.html and http://www.emmanuel.edu/x575.xml

"Yep, I got the same messages. Some of our sites use SSL and we've been talking about migrating all the rest our sites for a while now. I suspect we will be doing it rather than just talking about it sooner rather than later now. :\"
