For the past few months I've been using Scribd in our Faculty. I originally set it up simply as a way of automatically making our brochures interactive for embedding on our site. We've had a bit of success with a few brochures being featured, and even the founder, Trip Adler has subscribed to us, but it's only really something that I'M interested in, and I can't seem to make anyone else in my Faculty enthusiastic about it's potential. At this stage we've just thrown our brochures up there and a bit of other content, but that's really it.
I'd love to see our academics publishing more content on there (as Scribd was originally intended for), but I know there are rules about post-publishing articles and what not that might thwarte this effort.
Check out our profile at http://www.scribd.com/professions and let me know what you think and any experiences you've had with Scribd.
Also, analytics do show that the traffic coming through from there is of decent quality - low bounce and exit rates and lengthy time on page, but I'd love more engagement/interaction from readers...
