Hi! We are planning on livestreaming our commencement ceremony this year. One of the biggest things right now for us is to make as much as possible for events available to mobile devices.
I'm having issues finding a solution that will allow me to embed a video stream in a page for mobile. Has anyone been successful in implementing a livestream to a mobile device? If so, can you share?
Or if you have any ideas of the best way to accomplish our goal, please share.

Permalink Reply by Brian Alves on April 23, 2011 at 9:54am You could feed your video into 3rd party services like Justin.tv, Ustream and now Amazon if you have a Flash Media Server: http://bit.ly/hosHOl they are all mobile compatible.
Otherwise, you need to encode the source video out to the 3GPP format on your own and have a web video player pick up and play the that encoded video for your users to view.
Here are some encoders:
• Quicktime Broadcaster (free download for Macs only)
• Wirecast (PC or Mac) costs $500.
• Orban’s Opticodec 1100 PE hardware card (PC only) Orban can do the HE-AAC format. This setup costs $1900.
• Xenon Encoder by Vidiator (PC only) is a robust 3GP streaming and transcoding solution that supports multiple simultaneous streams. AAC and HE-AAC formats supported. This solution costs $6,000.

As mentioned already, if you're using a site like Ustream.TV folks can watch the stream by using the third party site's app. Ustream only recently upgraded their app to be fully searchable so folks can now find every live stream and watch via phone.
