I decided to delete the comment now and block the user... the comment was in German menaing 'I like to hit my girlfriend in the face'... :-((( not very nice. Anyway, I would like to know what your strategies are?... having students respond is a good diea - however, this particular comment just really had to be deleted...or not? any thoughts?
Unfortunate side effect of Social Media. I have found a propensity of administration that would prefer total control over any social media. Mostly due to the lack of understanding of how allowing in the general public to comment and take part and interact is a two way street. If the comment was a lone comment by a random poster then I would agree to delete it however it all of the universities social media is sanitized then it fails to be a truly open representation of peoples opinions of your site. I think we all want the benefits of social media expecting everyone to gush on about our particular schools but the reality is you often do not hear many of the good comments and the people with something bad to say are sometimes inclined to take the time out of there day to make sure it gets said.
Ok that was way too many words, if it is an isolated case go ahead and delete if its a larger trend it might not be an avenue the university wants to use.
