Last week Ning officially launched a platform that gives users access to more than 90 embeddable applications and widgets. Here is the complete list:

http://about.ning.com/ningapps.php

I would like to get the community's opinion on adding any of these apps to the uwebd site. So what do you think - anything here that would add value for us?

Fixed! Thanks for letting me know
Have you used box.net before? Document sharing has been on our wish list for a while. We have never found a good solution that can be integrated with Ning.
I've used box.net - I like it. I've used some others previously, but box.net seems to work the best and is quite simple.
I use box.net from time to time and am satisfied with it. I've never tried any other similar sites, though, so I can't comment on its value relative to its competition.
I have not used box.net, but I noticed that Google Apps is also available for Ning. We've used that with students and across departments with some success, though collaboration has not been an institutional priority for us so far.
Unless I'm missing something (highly probable!) is it only Google Docs that is available and then only 'Google Presentations' - so fairly limited in its use for document sharing.
I could see the Poll Daddy app being useful.
I agree. I think Poll Daddy could be useful.
Ustream could be useful during conferences, but we'd need someone on top of it all of the time during the conference in question.
Is there a cost involved using box.net through ning?

"Yep, I got the same messages. Some of our sites use SSL and we've been talking about migrating all the rest our sites for a while now. I suspect we will be doing it rather than just talking about it sooner rather than later now. :\"

Should we migrate to https?

I recently got a notice from Google that in October 2017 Chrome V62 with show the warning "NOT SECURE" on all our web pages we have a input field for search. Since on most of our pages there is nothing that would require secure information I've never felt the need for HTTPS. Our class registration pages are secure but not the general information pages. The warning is going to scare people though. Are others upgrading their websites?See More
