What solution are you using to publish your online alumni magazines? Examples would be appreciated.

We haven't implemented it yet, but our plan is to use the $19/month Pro version of Issuu.com. Upload a PDF version of the mag and it is automatically converted to an interactive flip-through version for visitors.
We were using the flip pdf but now have a web based version:

Paul,

What process are you using to get the pub into HTML? Do you have a program or are you hand-coding it?

Kathleen
we use a web-based solution through the vendor, imodules, that we use for our alumni website. so our magazine is integrated into www.colgatealumni.org. we do offer a straight-up PDF version of the site as well from the landing page.

the web-based version is here:

we are looking at products like Issuu, which we already use for some admission print pieces, but aren't sure we want to totally abandon the web-based option. the potential cost-savings is appealing, we now pay a former student to upload the magazine content, and the PDF products are getting more versatile.

but we haven't found the right product yet.
I am not sure there is a solution. We are toying around with throwing up something in WordPress, but I can't help but wonder if these publication -- even the online versions -- are on the evolutionary path to extinction.
As a small, relatively young school, we currently just post a pdf version of our print mag. But I do love the way John Hopkins does theirs via WordPress: http://magazine.jhu.edu/
We are preparing to use Issuu.com as well. We are starting with the Free version and will review to determine whether we need to upgrade to the Pro version.
You're going to want the Pro version as the free one shows links to other publications, some of which are not appropriate for your audience.
We are using PageFlip, similar ti Issuu, but it's our own license, so we're not uploading to a 3rd party's site.
We use Wordpress and love it! It's easy to use, looks great and is very SEO friendly.

I wrote about our process and shared some tips here: http://tracymueller.com/2009/10/using-wordpress-to-publish-an-onlin...
Has anyone reviewed the accessibility of some of the options? We used zmags a few years ago, and encountered accessibility issues.
Like Kevin, we use a flash page-turning system, but ours was a 1-time $70 fee. And it is beautiful. Check out: http://www.nnu.edu/messenger/Fall_2009/index.html

This is website we used, but the developer has since changed the way his app works: http://page-flip.com.
