Hi,
Anyone ever had to deal with someone creating a copycat page for their Institution on Facebook?
We've had a guy create a fake page and link it to lots of our affiliates (annoying for them, annoying for us). I tried reporting it to FB and now it seems only I don't see his posts while other people still can. Any thoughts / experience you can share? Facebook help is as useless as ever.
Many thanks! :)

I once had good luck in reporting a fake personal profile (created on behalf of my former employer's president) using Facebook's reporting system, though I think the reason it worked was our approach: I had multiple people submit reports since I could only do it once, and we all choose different reasons for submitting – impersonation, profanity, copyright violation, etc. I don't recall the exact reporting options, and I don't know which ones could apply to your situation, but I think the one that did it for us was the copyright. Whoever created the page used a professional picture of the president that we had the rights to. So if you haven't already, try submitting some reports – there really is someone, somewhere in Facebookland reading and responding to them...
Hang in there :)

That's very helpful...
He's been clever and used his own image and adapted our copy (which is part of the problem), but it's good to know there is a way to somehow get someone's attention.
I might try the 'This page is infringing my copyright' link anyway to see what happens.
Facebook is remarkably obtuse and difficult to navigate on these matters eh?
Thanks again and best wishes,
Isobel :)
