Has someone on your campus developed a formal social media policy or guidelines as many corporations have for their employees?

I know WSU Vancouver has developed guidelines for Facebook and Twitter, but I'm wondering if other campuses have developed a non-tool-specific comprehensive social media policy you'd be willing to share and point us to?

Rachel,
is there any way to get a peek at Cafe New Paltz? Maybe a screen shot? University at Buffalo is considering a similar thing for new students.
thanks

I heard some Twittering recently about West Virgina University having policy/guidelines together that they are using...but I haven't seen it yet.

Ours is still in the "in Jason's mind" stage so timing of this topic is great. I'm also hoping to talk with folks about this next week in Chicago...

I am also in the compiling/gathering phase of a policy for us. Looking for Higher Ed examples but I did come across this post for corporate policies - http://123socialmedia.com/2009/01/23/social-media-policy-examples/

There will be a 'working group' forming on campus to discuss a unified strategic direction to herd the various cats toward, but there isn't a university set of guidelines for its employees and faculty specifically covering social media.

We developed guidelines based heavily on DePaul's fantastic and publicly available set: http://brandresources.depaul.edu/vendor_guidelines/g_socialmedia.aspx

I call our document "Managing a Social Media Forum", with the idea that everyone who manages a blog, facebook page, twitter account, etc. for the University will take these guidelines and make small tweaks to adapt them to their unique situation.

Another more policy-like section covers Personal Blogs/pages/presence/etc based off of DePaul's guidelines in that section. This would likely be the part that becomes official policy, dealing with how to identify yourself as a staff member, but not officially 'speak' for the University.

We've got a subcommittee formed that will be working on this issue this summer. A couple of helpful links I've seen:

Will post ours when it is complete (barring CA budget crisis issues) and am looking forward to reading your examples & resources as well. Great thread!! :-D

Thumbs up to DePaul. One of the best and most comprehensive I've seen so far.

If you're developing one, be prepared to update it. A lot. Should be more of a working document than a policy, IMO.

I had been working on a policy last semester, we gave one department a Facebook Group and then everyone seemed to think they needed one.

We used a bunch of corporate examples for the "good practices" section and then reworded the "policy" portion for our needs. I'd be happy to share if anyone wants to see it, unfortunately it's only online in our intranet, which is closed to the public.
