That time of year- Christmas/Holiday greeting ecard/flash messages...

Hi folks,
Its that time of year again- time when a bunch of us are tasked with putting together some sort of cool, fancy, interesting holiday message all wrapped up in a nifty flash bow. :) I know alot of us would love to see what everyone is doing/has done in the past...

Anyone have some good examples of what they have done in the past? Most of them have been pretty forgettable for me- standard message from the president yada, yada. One really memorable one for me (can't remember which school it was from- if anyone can remember, please let me know or better yet, post the link!) was of skaters on an icy pond. As the user clicked on the image, a little "story" took place- stars came out, Christmas lights on the gazebo were turned on, and towards the end, the campus choir started singing and there was a simple message of holiday greetings from the college. Pretty cool stuff.

Here's a couple of old ones from Providence College. I can only take "credit" for last years. Teaching myself Flash, and ran out of time, so I didn't get to properly animate it using actionscript the way I wanted to...

Hi Dan,
Ashland University is the card you are thinking of, it was very cool. I have an old link, but it doesn't work anymore.

Here is our card from last year, http://www.centralmethodist.edu/indexflash/christmas08.swf
(Disclaimer: I'm self taught in Flash and don't get much time to mess with it.)

I'm working on another one for this year, but it's not done yet.

Jenny
Thanks Jenny!
Yeah, their "card" last year was amazing! Thanks for refreshing my memory- I'll see if i can contact them- wanted to show it to a coworker. Good stuff.

Very cool card from last year! Same here- i'm self-taught in flash, just don't have the time to really delve into it as much as I'd like, so my skillset is really limited. Fun stuff though! Thanks for sharing!

Couple more- from my alma mater - Keene State College

I'd love to see what else everyone is doing if you care to share...

This is the one we did last year for College of the Rockies: http://www.cotr.bc.ca/greetings/default08.asp

We had to put it together rather quickly when other plans fell through, but it was well-received.

i love this! how will you top it next year?
Indiana University of Pennsylvania's for 2009:

We avoided a Flash animation this year in favor of having students talking and giving holiday greetings. Time on page is way up from last year, so we're thinking more people stuck around to see the whole thing (or the video is stalling terribly).
Oh this is fun.

We have a great challenge to not be specific to one culture's holiday celebrations and so we tend to focus on the college message. I love it because I get to play in Flash. Took the dive into AS3 this year!
