Video aggregator/portal solutions?
Anyone know of any solutions to aggregate videos from a variety of youtube and vimeo sources? We've tried Miro Community but are looking for something similar.See More

vob files to wmv
Does anyone recommend any software programs to convert many vob files to wmv. What works for your school?

WMV or WMA? The title says WMV, but WMA in the body.
.VOB files are the video files that are taken from a DVD, and WMA usually refers to audio files. Are you looking to extract the audio from a DVD/.VOB file? It's possible. If you meant WMV -- I don't think that we have ever had to convert VOB files to WMV, because if we were ripping a DVD (which is usually the source of the VOB files), then we'd usually rip to some MPEG-2 format straight from the disc. There is software that advertises that it converts VOBs to WMVs but many of these are for distributing content that might not be legally purchased and so the companys that do the conversions will water mark the videos or make other alterations that aren't up to an academic quality. Nevertheless, do a quick google search for "convert vob to wmv," and there are a number of programs that advertise the ability to do it quickly and easily... I'm somewhat suspect of any program that comes up because they seem to primarily serve less than honorable individuals.
Can you describe what the overall goal of the project is? Might be an easier way than converting VOBs to WMV's, because in most cases to get a VOB you need to have already ripped a DVD... and if you've got DVD ripping software already, you can probably use that to create a typical MPEG2 or MPEG4 video file.

We are taking vob files from speech videos and converting them so we can upload them to our mediasite.

There is a freeware called Oxelon is very friendly and allows you to convert videos in many video/audio formats.
However if you would like to used a professional software, I recommend you adobe premiere cs4 you can import vob files and then export it into different formats including wmv
