University Web Developers

Philadelphia University is seeking a front-end web developer with design capabilities to join its web team in the Marketing and Public Relations department.  Reporting to the manager of marketing and branding services, the web developer will be responsible for hand-coding web pages that support responsive layouts on multiple browsing devices, maintaining the University's website, as well as contributing to the site design.  The web developer will build multimedia micro-sites for marketing campaigns and develop innovative interactive components using a variety of technologies.

The successful candidate must possess a strong understanding of HTML and CSS standards; javascript, jQuery, JSON, PHP & MySql, Wordpress; as well as equal proficiency with Mac and PC operating systems, software and hardware; an aptitude to evaluate new and emerging technologies; and a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products.

The web developer will be responsible for working with the web team to produce site maps, wireframes and mockups.  The candidate must possess a strong knowledge of User Experience and User Interface Design, a strong understanding of typography, and demonstrated extensive knowledge of web technologies and best practices.  In addition, candidate should possess a solid understanding of website performance optimization techniques.

Fluency in current graphic design practices, including the Adobe suite of products, particularly Photoshop, Flash and Dreamweaver is helpful. Knowledge of Hannon Hill’s Cascade Server and experience with source controls systems like GIT and SVN a plus. The ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure is expected. Candidate will also assist senior members of the Public Relations department with daily tasks as assigned, including, but not limited to, print design and event support.
