We are in the middle of a complete website redesign and thought about doing a survey to get users feedback. Has anyone done is and does anyone have example surveys and what service did you use (Survey Monkey)?
I would definitely run the new design through http://fivesecondtest.com/ which helps you quickly identify problem areas within your designs.
Why '5 seconds'? Well research has shown that most users will analyze and make a judgment on your page within the first 5 seconds of their visit. If the page hasn't peaked their interest or they weren't able to comprehend the purpose of the site or what they could do with it, they leave (almost always by hitting the back button). Think about all of the times you were searching frantically for something on Google.com... you execute your search query, you're given a list of results, and you quickly beginning clicking each one, you take a quick look at the page ... if it doesn't look credible or doesn't seem like it's what you wanted or will satisfy your goal, you pogo-stick backwards... back to the search results, and move onward with the next link... you do this over and over again until you find a page that gives you the answer you were seeking.
