If you have an audience focused page or portal for students, faculty and staff does your IT automatically set the default browser homepage on outgoing computers to that or do campus machines direct to your official homepage?
Are your official homepages "audience neutral information gateways" or "prospect student focused doorways"?
Appreciate the input. Our homepage is a doorway for prospects with no relevant info for the internal communities but we can't come to a consensus to link to our internal gateways on campus controlled machines.
Those in leadership think our homepage is fine - www.union.edu
Here's our faculty/staff gateway that I'd like to see all faculty/staff machines set to as they are delivered by IT - http://www.union.edu/gateway/faculty-staff.php
Here's out student gateway that I'd like to see all general public machines should be set to
As always, the assumption that other schools use their homepage as the default on campus controlled machines is a reason we would as well - regardless of whether our homepage provides the content to those audiences vs other institution homepages. And of course, our users could change it themselves... if we only had a community tech savvy enough to understand what that meant.
