Yesterday, I received a phone call from someone regarding a text relay service. They wanted to send me some information about allowing our Web site visitors to place TTY phone calls from our site.
They then proceeded to send me an e-mail message with instructions explaining how to install a button on our Web site to make it easier for our deaf and hard-of-hearing users to place TTY phone calls.
A) Have any of you received similar phone calls/e-mail messages?
B) Do you offer buttons or links on your Web sites to allow users to place TTY phone calls (apparently over VOIP) to your institution?
D) Is this necessary if we already have a TTD phone number?
E) Has anyone heard of or used the specific services that were referenced in the e-mail message I received? The company that apparently contacted me is called "GoAmerica" and the service seems to be offered through i711.com.
Thank you for any insight or advice you can offer.
EDIT - I was able to locate some more information on this particular service by Googling "text relay button" and visiting the link that said "Promote Text Relay
