JavaScript CSS & SPRY...

I'm using SPRY/JavaScript & CSS to create a news 'headline' effect where a user can click on buttons to view main stories within a fixed portion of a page - something like what iframes produce.

I'm having a bit of trouble writing some custom JavaScript that will keep the active button in it's 'on' state, while keeping the other buttons functioning normally. The buttons are not image rollovers but use alpha transparency (CSS) for the rollover state. Here's an Example.

Does anyone know what code i need to add to retain the rollover effects for the non-active buttons?

Thanks for any possible info!!
