Hi Samuel – WordPress will be a good choice for this kind of project.

Can you let us know more about what features you are thinking of adding? It seems to me that a combination of a WordPress site and tightly integrated social media channels is often a good way to go for alumni, as they are more likely to use social media than to visit a dedicated forum on a website.

I am just joining this platform and i started using wordpress lately. My interest is building and interactive alumni and membership site for my university. Any willing to help out?

Sorta both. We had a responsive design developed by another group using Bootstrap 2. We slide in Bootstrap 3 to get the slide-from-the-side behavior on the mobile views. I suppose by now we are a long way from the starter theme, but we started there.

@rick Nice site. Looks beautiful. We've been doing a lot of WP sites recently. Here's one integrated with Bootstrap. https://med.uth.edu/cvs

Hi Rick -- Nice! Did you use a Bootstrap starter theme or roll your own from scratch with the bootstrap framework?

We just launched a new WordPress site for our user oriented support information about IT at the University of Washington. We wanted the site to work well with all devices from smartphones to big desktops. It was built with Bootstrap 3. Let me know what you think. It is at http://uw.edu/itconnect/

How do you delete a group? I can't seem to delete it now.

Daniel - Yes, that would be great. I'll delete my group, then.

Hi Hillary -- Rather than a new group, I was thinking of a forum post. I find these Ning groups tend to be dead ends, but the Forum accessible from the main page is more active. Should I create a starter post on the forum for us, or would you prefer the Group?

Thoughts on "part-time work from home" for a web developer?

This isn't a posting for a job (but hopefully that will be coming soon!)We are looking to hire a new web developer, and have gotten the OK from HR to offer this with the possibility of working from home a few days of the week, and in the office the other days. We're hoping to draw in some more candidates from outside of our local area. This is only the second position at our institution that is not fully on site, so we're in uncharted territory!I'm curious to know, does anyone work part-time…See More
