"Hi Michael. How do I do that? BTW- the menu just came back on it's own. Not sure if it's something I did, or if someone else (that's the trouble with CMSes) did something. Thanks!"

"I've used Wordpress (the software, not the hosted service) for other CMS-type uses...such as an article system as part of a larger non-CMS web site. I still think it's overkill for what I need. Stephen, I checked out PageLime, and it…"

"Things don't any more lightweight than PageLime (http://pagelime.com). Add a class to the div (p, a, img, etc.) you want to be editable on a static HTML page, then give PageLime FTP access. If you've used CushyCMS, it's the same idea…"

"You could use it out of the box, and only provide author access. There are other lighter CMSs, but there's a lot of support for WP."

"I was thinking of something much lighter weight. They won't be able to edit anything but the content, and we won't need widgets, plugins, themes, or any of that stuff. It's on the short list, though."

CMS for small sections of a department site

Howdy folks. I am a web developer at the University of Wisconsin. In my department, I'm currently taking over as lead developer for the main web site. Previously, I'd been lead on several other sites under the dept. umbrella, but never for the main site. We're in revision mode now. As part of the revision, some faculty want the option to be able to update their faculty/staff page on the site. Some are web savvy, others are not, but they want the option. A few of them are using (with some…See More

"Welp, I thought I had it. Of course, it the active state doesn't work in IE7 or IE8 ( not testing in IE6 ). Active state works perfectly in FF and Safari. Can someone show me an example of this working 100%? My CSS must be off just a bit."

"Bingo! The list item was getting the class="active", but the anchor was what I needed styled. I have it all worked out now...including setting the active style for the level 2 nav. Cheers!"

Christopher Falzone replied to Bonner Karger's discussion Having trouble with navigation macro in the group dotCMS
"Just top of my head but a couple things to try ... Does it put the class on the anchor tag not the list item tag? li a.active { color: #009ACD; } Or perhaps you need to color the a tag instead of the li tag? li.active a { color: #009ACD; } Is…"

Office Reservation software

I've been tasked with finding a software tool that helps manage the onboarding and exit process of new and departing faculty. Ultimately i would like this software to management faculty office interms of when resources can be removed from a particular office and when a new faculty member can be moved in with the necessary resources. This tool should have notifications and alerts so there are no conflicts with someone being removed from a office and someone being placed in a office. Does anyone…See More
