This discussion as well as my experience at Butler are largely in line with my thought of utilizing tools such as Facebook instead of a private social network. Your primary goal and strategy should extend beyond admissions and yielding. You want t...

We have data to measure activity on SM sites as a result of using callouts, but it's mostly for internal use. We just share this data for others to do what they will with it. :) Be sure to see Ann White's research at OK Christian, stellar stuff.

Flip Ultra = Thumbs Up.

The first videos from the Flip Ultra are now online at YouTube. Christina took the camera for the weekend, and in 3 short days we now have video of:

  • Butler Basketball Game

  • Places to eat near campus

  • Inside Clowes Hall during a performance

  • Tour of sorority house

Tomorrow I have to tweak Community Server to allow the videos to be embedded directly into the blogs, but I'v

Interacting with students on their turf

Want an easy way to keep track of what your school’s ‘customers’ are saying about you? Check out Google Alerts, and monitor the Alerts as they come in. You can choose to get Alerts as they happen, or a comprehensive email at the end of each day. You can
also get text or HTML emails. I have Alerts set up for “Butler
University”, “Butler Bulldogs”, “Butler U.”, and “Butler Bloggers”.

Here’s a good example: I get an Alert of

Ah, well that makes a pretty big difference. Then I'd say probably about a 15% increase in salary or $7500, whichever is more, unless they're making a pretty big jump up the ladder for it.

We recently decided on Drupal and purchased support from Acquia Drupal. We've been pretty happy with them so far. Great response times and access to free webinars that have been pretty helpful.

There's no real "professional organization" per se yet. The HighEdWeb group had been working on something like that though, but I'm not sure where they are at in that process. As for conferences, I'd generally recommend HighEdWeb and EDUWeb.
