"The writing student inside me wants to say, "Blogs for all!" The instructional technology support person inside me wants to say, "Make them sign an agreement!" So, how to navigate this disparity? I think an agreement is a…"
"I learned this lesson too: It's not just about setting expectations up front— it's about setting draconian rules up front and making the reward so sweet and easily attainable that they do it.
I had blogs set up for our student…"
I am running into the same problem. Our web team gets numerous requests for blogs but some of them fall apart, usually withing a short time-frame. Part of what I'm doing to help this situation is trying to define, with our Marketing…"
We get many requests to set up blogs for various departments. In our initial meeting, I explain to the requesters that they alone will be in charge of creating and maintaining content and they all promise me that they have the time and staff to maintain the site.Approximately 40% of the blogs that we create go unused or are severely underutilized, which looks awful for our institution and incenses me for the time and trouble my department went through to create the site and train the users. My…See More

Recently, our authorship has become very interested in getting their statistical information for the sites they oversee.Normally, if someone wants access to the GA for their sub-site, we create a profile for them and grant them access. With as many demands as we are having for GA access, I'd like to set up a less hands-on way for our users to be able to get the stats for their site.Currently, we have quite the mishmash of site profiles and a convoluted…See More

"As Annette said, it depends on why you're doing it. What are the problems that need to be solved, and what are the outcomes that can be measured? I'm planning to switch to a CMS from not having one this coming year, and most of our issues…"
"For our global header nav, I've been tracking every click as an event in Google Analytics for several months. It's pretty clear now which links are popular and which are being ignored. I also use Crazy Egg to see clicks on the current…"
