For the main University calendar, we're using a fairly simple in house PHP/MySQL system developed about 5 years ago that still seems to be holding up pretty well. http://www.callutheran.edu/calendar/ For departmental sites or niche uses, I've bee...

Just an epilogue: We use Google Calendar then pull the RSS feed into our site with php. Has worked perfectly for almost three years now and allows me to share the calendar access with others.

We've been looking at Columba Systems' events software. They are based in London, UK. It's not the cheapest, but it's really pretty good.

Would you say a Helios implementation requires a "developer" or someone who's comfortable with PHP and MySQL code? Our institution lost it's developer with no expectation to replace the role and Helios is being considered for implementation. Our g...

I also have to agree with Michal here. The purpose of Facebook is one thing but I do not think it should be used for other purposes. And I back that with Chris, by saying there is a place for that and possible the homepage could be used for that p...

I believe google calendar to be by far the best. You can have many contributors, people can subscribe, rss, click an event and add to their own calendar. Tons of features! http://busn.uco.edu/calendar

We recently decided on Drupal and purchased support from Acquia Drupal. We've been pretty happy with them so far. Great response times and access to free webinars that have been pretty helpful.

First Week on the job..

As I begin the college lifestyle again, I will be actually in the offices of the school and not in the classrooms. I have started my new job here at NCTC as the Webmaster. I prefer a different name as I am no master of the web at all. I prefer the title "the new web-guy" or just "web-guy". I have the responsiblity of a total redesign of the school's website. This will be a major undertaking. So stay tuned.......
