OmniUpdate Versus Cascade

Ken, actually just got through looking at both CMS. I demoed Cascade Server and then Omni Update all in the same day. I do not think that you could go wrong with either of the systems. I loved both...

We recently decided on Drupal and purchased support from Acquia Drupal. We've been pretty happy with them so far. Great response times and access to free webinars that have been pretty helpful.

There's no real "professional organization" per se yet. The HighEdWeb group had been working on something like that though, but I'm not sure where they are at in that process. As for conferences, I'd generally recommend HighEdWeb and EDUWeb.

1.) This is fairly straightforward when you begin to grasp the permissions system. Although coming from Joomla it might take a little more time to make sense out of how Drupal uses permissions. 2.) Yep, although with a little work you can limit e...

I use the $149...you can customize everything that you want on the front-end with this. The $699 license is if you want to customize the admin interface and resell their product as a developer. I'm more of a .NET/SQL person. It was extremely easy...

1. Yes you can set things up that way. You can create different content types and assign who gets access to what. For example I create a job listing content type and only certain people can post job listings. When they create a job listing all the...

Michael thanks for the info on helios. Do you use the $149 version or the developer version for $699? Is the $149 version pretty easy to customize with the schools Logo and colors? Is it easy to install? Have you had any major issues or problems w...

We're using Helios Calendar (http://www.helioscalendar.com). It's a PHP/mySQL system, easy to deploy, reasonably priced and easy to customize.

First Week on the job..

As I begin the college lifestyle again, I will be actually in the offices of the school and not in the classrooms. I have started my new job here at NCTC as the Webmaster. I prefer a different name as I am no master of the web at all. I prefer the title "the new web-guy" or just "web-guy". I have the responsiblity of a total redesign of the school's website. This will be a major undertaking. So stay tuned.......

Ah, well that makes a pretty big difference. Then I'd say probably about a 15% increase in salary or $7500, whichever is more, unless they're making a pretty big jump up the ladder for it.
