There is pretty much a drag and drop install. Which ports do you have the services running on? You may try installing the apache on port 80 and the mysql on 8080. Also, do you have a permanent IP for the machine?

Just downloaded the latest version of MAMP yesterday. I can't even get WordPress MU installed much less BuddyPress. We are having trouble turning on MySQL. There doesn't seem any good help documentation on the web.
