I have enjoyed building my local networking, and gathering good info through twitter. It is a very useful tool if you want it to be. I usually tweet about web design, programming, music, and other random things. http://twitter.com/AdamChlan

Hi Matt,

With your work in Communications, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service.

How are you using it? Where are you using it? How are you making it degrade gracefully? What are you doing to make sure applications remain accessible?

I also have to agree with Michal here. The purpose of Facebook is one thing but I do not think it should be used for other purposes. And I back that with Chris, by saying there is a place for that and possible the homepage could be used for that p...

Unfortunately here at UT we have had to deal with this issue more than we would like to in the last three months. We had a student murdered walking home late from a party in August, a student killed in a hit and run on Friday, and another 3 studen...

Thanks for your suggestions. We are leaning towards using an externally hosted discussion board solution (no need for all the other fancy social media features offered by Ning or Facebook). The only features we need are document repository, search...

I agree with most comments here. Below are my .02: 1) Internal communication is everything. If you can create a working group, as others suggest, it will help alleviate any confusion on the behalf of students seeking information in multiple areas...
