I see this every once in a while, too. I'm not sure exactly what the story is behind this type of stuff. My theory is that it's kind of a "testing the waters" type of thing. There is some blog software that, once a comment is approved, other comm...

I like it - but I'm sceptical about how universally accepted it will be, and how quickly it will grow. I posted a comment elsewhere, which I am reposting here: I'm not convinced it'll become mainstream for at least five years, probably a decade. ...

I've gained a lot from looking through the thread on university social media policies, but there's an area I don't see covered that I'm wondering about. At my institution, we've had a few episodes of inappropriate interaction between faculty & stu...

Take a look at what we're doing over at nuCloud for folks. Got Belmont, USC Upstate, and soon Anderson launched on our interactive map platform. It's basically designed to be cheap and easy with very fast turnaround. Fire off an email to info (at)...

Wondering if anyone can share anything about using external parties to produce a virtual campus tour? I'm looking for costs and issues -- what're the benefits of going external vs trying to produce inhouse? What are the drawbacks? Many thanks for ...

We recently decided on Drupal and purchased support from Acquia Drupal. We've been pretty happy with them so far. Great response times and access to free webinars that have been pretty helpful.

There's no real "professional organization" per se yet. The HighEdWeb group had been working on something like that though, but I'm not sure where they are at in that process. As for conferences, I'd generally recommend HighEdWeb and EDUWeb.

As I am new to the higher ed community, I was wondering if as a professional group do we have a professional type organization? Secondly, is there some type of annual conference for higher ed web developers/designers, where we can get together an...

Thank you so much, Michael. That's great information. We already have an internal candidate in mind, so relocating, etc. aren't issues. This person has the required education and experience. With that in mind, what would you say would be fair? Tha...

Ken, actually just got through looking at both CMS. I demoed Cascade Server and then Omni Update all in the same day. I do not think that you could go wrong with either of the systems. I loved both of them. Both are excellent CMS. But after the da...

Without looking in to the cost of living up the Rhode Island way, if I were looking at it I wouldn't even apply for less than $70K (but I figure in a cost of living increase, plus moving costs, etc. I'm greedy, but I also wouldn't move across the ...
