I think of finding the right CMS is comparable to hiring a new employee. You have that interview where you get to test them, find out what they offer you, and then you have to make that decision. If…Continue

Facebook and Twitter: WTF?

Our university has a Facebook, we also have a Twitter. What we don't have is a concrete direction on how to use either. I think it is safe to say no one really does. I have read articles based around various business models and how based on your business type you should be using FB and T. Each one is slightly different from the next but follow a pretty standard set of ideas. Is it any different for a university.tweet / FB at your usersuse #hashtagsinform in small statementslink to stufftweet /…See More

QR Codes: A passing fad?

Everywhere I look I am starting to see that black box with little boxes in it. QR Codes are the newest way to interact with consumers. No one really liked typing in the long www address in the first place. Now it as easy as opening your QR reader app and scanning the code. In our office we are putting them on almost all our print…See More

Facebook the new College lounge?

Who would have thought kids would rather sit on their computer and talk

to one another than in real life? Is it so hard to think of this

possibility with all the trends right now? I mean if someone can find

love on eHarmony, why can't I meet new friends on Facebook? Is Facebook

actually acting as an ice-breaker? Did you know that 40% to 43% of

people are shy in the United States. That means if I walk up to two

people one may crawl into a ball and cry. In the past… Continue

Remember the Steak is the Best Part, Not the Sides.

How many of us have heard this in our quest for a CMS... "I'd like you to have you take a look at our 'bells and whistles' add-on features..", and once they are finished we can't help at realize we will probably use only one bell and no whistles? Unfortunately we don't offer these tools individually...This is my nightmare. Most of the time the features are awesome at first glance but once they are done with the demo one has to think about long term usability.

I compare it to the a… Continue

FB Page admin privacy

Hi,We have 11 admins for our Facebook page, and we all post as the page, which in our case is 'James Cook University'. I'd like to have it so we post as ourselves, but with our privacy set up so we can partition our activity on the page from the rest of our Facebook 'lives'. Any idea on how to do that?thanks,RossSee More
