Apology

I am sorry if I offended anyone by posting about the Hurricane on this blog. This week my mind has NOT been on web or development or Chrome...the only technology I've been thinking about was the lack thereof in Louisiana right now.

I only shared that here, on this blog, b/c while we may not know each other irl, I do communicate with many of you via your blogs and comments.

I have deleted all blog posts.

I agree with Ann and Charlie. Context here is key. And I do think that under the correct supervision, student workers or student ambassadors can effectively admin social media pages.

Our college district has five campuses, but two full-time Web employees: the webmaster (David) and the Web content editor (me). During our recent redesign, we took the approach of doing our IA and content writing with the different audiences in mind…

Josh, thanks for responding. I've come across so much research in the past year since I first posed this question, and would be happy to share if needed. I'm also presenting at this year's HighEdWeb conference in Milwaukee on the subject of increasi…

I'd be curious to hear what Brad Ward did at Butler (when he was there) b/c they had students out with cameras often. I wonder if they have one of those statements in the app materials that Karlyn mentioned.

Colin, I'm not sure if I am misunderstanding your question, but when thinking about usability, the majority of users expect that the hierarchy, which usually drives the breadcrumb navigation, IS how they "get" to pages. If site visitors cannot predi…

Since you are in the CMS group, I was hoping you could advise me. UB is setting up a university-wide content management system and we are exploring what best practices other universities are doing. In particular, we are trying to identify universities that are:

* Using a CMS enterprise wide, or with several departments

* Have governance or policies in place

* Have a form of centralized staffing

* And hopefully are encouraging best practices in content and user experience.

If you can take the brief survey at https://vovici.com/wsb.dll/s/8727g3fd23 (no longer than 2-5 minutes) it would help us gather preliminary information that will assist us in our initial phase of research. If you know of someone in your organization better suited to fill this out, please feel free to pass this along.

We are looking for initial responses by Thursday, October 15th.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or my assistant Kyriakos Zannikos (716-645-4652 or zannikos@buffalo.edu)

Thanks in advance,

Hey Susan, I wasn't able to make it this year :( - which is a real bummer. Unfortunately I'm stuck working on a new project that came up.
