'Facebook fatigue' kicks in as people tire of Social Networks

I thought this was really interesting, mostly because it supports my theory that "social networking" is just another web 2.0 bubble that is highly publicized but in the end it will be forgotten like that website that would overnight you a ham sandwich.

It looks like there might be some financial things to be worked out, but I think it's still the strongest social network. Also I completely agree with Mark. Niche social networks, like this one, is the future. People will still keep their Facebook pages, but participate in narrow networks that truly accomplish their needs.

I think with Facebook or Myspace or any of the others the biggest excitement of them is finding all your old friends that you haven't talked to in years. Once you have found them and realize that nothing is really new the excitements starts to wear off and the time on site and page visits begin to decline.

I don't think the value of a social network is in decline, it's just that the real value and real growth is in the Long Tail. The growth of niche social networks will be one of the stories of 2008. There are now 156,046 social networks on Ning!

The article and commentors are very anti-Facebook and yet it seems like more people I know are signing up daily. Maybe I'm not in the 'cool' crowd but I enjoy Facebook.

As someone who works in fundraising at a university, it's important to have some access to lots of students and alumni in one place. Facebook gives me the best opportunity for that at this point.

Archived magazine stories

Greetings,What are you all doing online with "old" magazine stories? Do you delete issues after so  many years? 5 years? 10? I'm torn between keeping all on for historical purposes or keeping just a few years online to simplify the site (ala Gerry McGovern.) Curious as to what you see best practices being.ThanksSara KisseberthBluffton Universitywww.bluffton.eduSee More
