Hey folks,
Looks like Facebook recently changed the procedure for converting personal pages (like many schools set up their initial Facebook forays) into organization pages.

Improved, but still not seemless.

The only problem we faced with the migration was that we also wanted to make the page name our "official" name rather than what the personal account was named, which was shortened. We decided not to migrate the page so we could have the official name as Facebook only allows minor modifications to the page name.
We'll be slowly moving friends into fans over coming months.
For a program, we used the migration method, which included downloading posts, photos and the like, and reposting what we wanted to ... It worked great.
If it weren't for the naming issue, we'd have switched over our main FB account to a page right away.
Cheers,
Svend
Comment by Robin Kelly on April 22, 2011 at 11:14am I'm curious to see if any universities make this change, and if it works for them. I'm a bit leary to make the plunge with the bugs I am reading about.
Has anyone stepped through this on FB without any issues?
Thanks!
