Has anybody added their university as a cause on Facebook as a fundraising opportunity? Any benefits or concerns about doing this?
Thanks for any input you may have!
I've been wondering about this, too, but haven't done any research. I'd be curious to find out about others experiences with this.
I will let you know what I find out!
I looked at the app for it: http://apps.facebook.com/causes
I think it is important to make a case why a university would be a "cause." It might be more fitting to have it go to a particular program or fund for student scholarships. You can look through all of the examples there and sort by university-affiliated causes (on the navigation bar Causes>Browse Causes and then on the right "Education" and then again on the right "College and University". Then under "Cause" on the navigation bar at the top again, you can choose "Start a Cause". On the upper right you will see a link "You can also start by selecting a nonprofit." and you can choose your university that way.
I am not sure how it works regarding getting the money that people donate. I poked around a bit, and i was able to "donate" to cause by watching a commercial. So I am not sure exactly how that works, but it could be worthwhile!
