Front End Web Developer Opening at Indiana University of Pennsylvania

Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) invites applicants for the position of Web Developer in the Marketing and Communications Division.

The front-end Web Developer works to support and enhance the IUP website and other digital properties and communications. Using CSS, HTML, scripting languages, and other tools the web developer is responsible for creating user experiences optimized for usability, download time, and accessibility while following defined standards for brand and coding. They provide support to the network of web content contributors and assist with training and training materials. The Web Developer also works with and assists IT and others on the Digital Team in the development and implementation of other digital solutions.

This management position is non-represented.

  • Samples of work will be required for the on-campus interview process. Those who fail to provide samples during the interview will not be considered for this position.

Position Qualifications
Minimum:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications Media, Computer Science, or a related field that blends communications or art with technical skills
  • Minimum two years experience as a Web Developer/Designer
  • Valid Driver's License

Knowledge and Skills Beneficial to this Position:

  • Strong working knowledge of CSS3, Sass, HTML5, jQuery, JavaScript, XSLT.
  • Strong working knowledge of CSS3, Sass, HTML5, jQuery, JavaScript, XSLT
  • Understanding of User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) design principles, responsive design practices and principles.
  • Strong understanding of accessibility standards and how to design for all users.
    Experience in marketing-focused office or organization with emphasis on developing within brand standards.
  • Experience working with a content management system, developing solutions for and within the CMS.
  • Writing and editing skills.
    Experience with website analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics/Google Tag Manager) and the ability to analyze data.
  • Understanding of SEO and web optimization techniques.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and collaborate with a team on multiple, concurrent projects.
  • Graphic design experience, with knowledge of Adobe CC products including Photoshop, Illustrator.

Candidates must have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members.

Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well in the interview(s).

Essential Functions
The work of this position occurs in a typical office environment. Although infrequent, periods of heavy exertion may occur. Incumbent must have the following abilities:

  1. Ability to travel to field locations and meeting/training sites by motor vehicle when required.
  2. Communicate both orally and in writing to issue, receive and carry out instructions and orders effectively and to convey information to a variety of co-workers and the general public
  3. Use a variety of common office machines such as telephones, calculators, copiers, computer terminals, keyboards, video display terminals, auxiliary printers and similar equipment.
  4. Perform manual duties such as lifting and carrying various weight limits.
  5. Operate office equipment which may require stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching and prolonged standing.
  6. Provide assistance and guidance to internal and external customers.
  7. Follow oral and written instructions

This isn't a posting for a job (but hopefully that will be coming soon!)We are looking to hire a new web developer, and have gotten the OK from HR to offer this with the possibility of working from home a few days of the week, and in the office the other days.
