Indiana University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for the position of Web Editor/Producer (manager grade 170). The Web Editor/Producer works as a member of the Web Team to edit and write content for websites, train and support campus web maintainers, and manage the production of new websites and sub-sites. Editing and writing duties include the review and editing of content for the website, writing copy for various IUP websites, serving as backup for our social media manager, and writing feature stories for our online channels. Training and support duties include creating help content for web maintainers, responding to e-mail and phone requests for support, and serving as backup for our classroom trainer. Website production duties include working with internal clients to determine their needs, and then collaborating with members of the Web Team to create websites that meet those needs. The minimum salary for this position is $41,837.
Bachelor’s degree and two years’ experience in an editorial setting such as a newspaper, magazine, or website or public relations office required. Web experience is preferred. Candidates should have: demonstrated ability in writing and editing for a public audience; proficiency in quickly and accurately editing copy to meet the requirements of the Chicago Manual of Style and IUP’s house standards; proficiency in fact-checking material to be posted on the IUP website; experience making editorial decisions about story topics, approaches, and placement; and the ability to provide one-on-one support to content creators across campus.
Desirable, but not required, proficiencies include the ability to make public presentations and to run training sessions; basic knowledge of HTML and CSS; basic digital image editing skills; knowledge of writing for the web; experience with social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn); experience using content management systems; and experience creating training materials.
