This isn't a posting for a job (but hopefully that will be coming soon!)
We are looking to hire a new web developer, and have gotten the OK from HR to offer this with the possibility of working from home a few days of the week, and in the office the other days. We're hoping to draw in some more candidates from outside of our local area.
This is only the second position at our institution that is not fully on site, so we're in uncharted territory!
I'm curious to know, does anyone work part-time from home? How is that working out for you?
Would this be a desirable benefit for someone, or if someone is looking for remote work, are they looking to work from home full time?
Any thoughts or experiences with this are welcome. Thank you!!
I do work from home a few days a week. Depending where you're located, this would definitely be a perk. I've found plenty of higher ed jobs, but it's not often where working from home is an option. I find this odd since the higher ed environment offers plenty of avenues for student learning online, why not extend remote working to eligible employees?
I love working remotely and find I'm much more productive. I would also prefer working remotely full-time, but since I'm so close to campus I can't justify asking.
Our institution also has a few IT and academic folks who work remotely and we haven't had any issues that I'm aware of. Our IT web developer is fully off campus and I work closely with him with zero issues.
