Summary: 

Trinity University is hiring a Web Developer to join its strategic communications and marketing team - a group of developers, project managers, and designers who oversee web, mobile, and marketing initiatives for the University. The Web Developer is responsible for building highly efficient, user-friendly web and mobile experiences. The ideal candidate has a passion for web development, an eye for good design, works well with a team, and is a self-starter.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Develop PHP, CSS and custom JavaScript for the University websites
  • Develop standards compliant markup and code
  • Develop mobile and responsive sites using a blend of existing frameworks (Drupal) and custom code
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and solve cross-browser and device issues
  • Partner with assistant director for web development to optimize style sheets (themes) enhancing the user experience and creating efficiencies
  • Build out additional capacity with the assistance of freelance web development resources, and work with vendors or other resources as needed
  • Support the development of peers by reviewing completed projects, offering instruction, etc.
  • Act as a resource and partner to peers in Strategic Communications and Marketing and across the University
  • Provide support for University content creators/editors in existing CMS platform (Drupal)
  • Multitask and prioritize activities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Assign tasks to student workers as necessary
  • Actively maintain professional skill set
  • Other duties as assigned


Experience Required: 

  • 3-4 years of experience with Drupal or enterprise large scale web applications architecture, design and implementation
  • Expertise in HTML5/XHTML, CSS3, PHP, JavaScript, web standards, browser and web developer tools
  • Experience in user interface design and responsive site design
  • Extensive knowledge and experience using content management systems (Drupal preferred, Drupal on an Acquia platform even better)
  • Ability to use scripting languages as needed (PHP is preferred)
  • Working knowledge of version control platforms (GIT preferred)
  • Experience guiding UI/UX decisions and deploying user-centered designs a plus
  • Exceptional interpersonal, collaborative and creative problem solving skills
  • Uncompromising attention to detail
  • Resourceful problem solver
